Red vs Blue

In current culture we celebrate things in red or blue. Blue can symbolise serenity, stability, inspiration, or wisdom. Red can bring energy, passion, strength, courage, physical activity, creativity, warmth, and security. 

In China, red is auspicious—associated with life-generating energy (the sun, blood, and fire)—and is the color of celebrations and prosperity. Blue is a dominant colour with France and Italy seen respectively in their national sports teams Les Bleus and the Azzuri. 

Combat sports such as Olympic and amateur boxing have associations with red and blue. There’s often the red and blue fighters going toe to toe and taking rest intervals in the red and blue corners.

Locally the city of Bristol has distinctive football rivalry based on the colours red or blue. If you like your football you are either the red of Bristol City or the blue of Bristol Rovers.
